Uzbekistan is regarded as one of the safest countries in Central Asia for travelers, with a strong police presence at airports, metro stations, and tourist sites, plus a dedicated tourist police force in Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva. It ranks well on the Global Peace Index and the Safety Perception Index.
Tashkent's metro is clean and well-monitored; city transport payments run on the ATTO card. For taxis, use official apps like Yandex Go or MyTaxi to avoid overcharging. Afrosiyob high-speed trains connect Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara. Flights can be booked via uzairways.com, and train tickets via railway.uz. Booking both in advance is recommended during peak season (Apr–Nov).
Pharmacies operate 24/7 across the country. For locating one or ordering medication, travelers can use ArzonApteka, MedMarket.uz, or Dorixona.uz. In a medical emergency, call 103 or go to the nearest hospital.
Flying a drone requires prior permission from the Civil Aviation Agency. Unauthorized use — especially near historical or strategic sites — can result in fines or confiscation.
